The Book of American Negro Poetry
"The Book of American Negro Poetry is one of the earliest and most essential anthologies of African-American verse ever brought to print. Edited by writer and diplomat James Weldon Johnson, this collection was published with the hope of bringing to the public a greater awareness of the art and literature created by Black writers."*

Google Audiobooks

Photo: Google Blog |
Below is the summary of the blog post I read.
Google Play now offers audiobooks. The audiobooks will be offered in nine languages and available in 45 countries.
The audiobooks should be affordable. Android, iOS, and the web are the places you can listen to the audiobooks. Do you have a device that has the Google Assistant (like Google Home), the audiobooks will be available with the device as well.
Here are highlights from the announcing blog post:
- Listen without a subscription
- Enjoy your audiobook with your Google Assistant
- Weave reading into your day across multiple devices*
For complete details, read the blog post on the Google blog.

Librophile.com is available on both desktop and mobile and our ultimate aim is to provide a one stop shop for all the audiobook and eBooks out there.
How is it free?
The internet is full of free and legal audiobooks and eBooks but finding them can be hard work. We are here to help by constantly looking for you. Librophile.com maintains an extensive archive of over a million publications and is funded mostly by advertising. Our philosophy is to try our very best to locate a free version for you, however, if there are none then we can often recommend a pay book too. Free audiobooks and eBooks are predominantly contributed by the amazing Librivox.org service and the huge Gutenberg library. Pay books are often provided courtesy of the Audible.com and Barnes & Noble affiliate programs. Other sources include Storynory for children's books.
How does it work?
By using free and often open source tools such as jQuery,jPlayer, Apache and MySQL Librophile.com is able to maintain a free and competitive service. In addition, the latest thinking in responsive website design means we have a single build that adapts to best fit almost every platform including the iPhone, iPad and desktop machines. Behind the scenes there are servers continually searching for free audiobooks and eBooks to add to the database.
We do rely on feedback from our users so please do contact us if you have any suggestions for ways to improve our service. All suggestions are welcome so please email us at:info@librophile.com.
